When you run you business as a solopreneur, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day hustle losing sight of the life and business you dreamt of. With so much to do and only yourself to rely on, it can be challenging to maintain a positive mindset. But that truly is key for success AND growth.
These are my top ten strategies I use week in week out to keep a positive mindset whilst I grow the business, raise the kid, be a fabulous friend and work on having the most fun possible!
Have a read and steal away…
Start my day with a mind dump.
Take a moment each morning to journal. I did use prompts but now I simply wake up and write. I see it as emptying my brain and starting the day as fresh and clear as I possibly can.
If you need some guidance think about health, goals, ideas, gratitude- basically you want to set a positive tone for your day.
Use the calm app.
I got this for the sleep stories but now I force myself to use the daily calm. I say force- I’m still nailing this habit 🤫! This short sharp still moment is a great way to stay present and reduce stress. It give me structure to find a few minutes each day to sit quietly, breathe deeply, and focus on the present moment.
Find a support system.
I always knew I wouldn’t do this alone have to go it alone. Connect with other women in business, join a networking group, or seek out a mentor/coach. Having a support system can make all the difference. Of course a Virtual Assistant is the best thing to have here 😜
Celebrate wins.
It’s easy to focus on the things that didn’t go well but I’m not here for dwelling on the past. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know that celebrating wins is something I HIGHLY encourage. No matter how small it really does help you stay positive and motivated. As I set my quarter plans and targets I write down what I will do to celebrate if I hit them all that really helps! I do it each week too. On a smaller scale but I’ll write my plan for the week and on the Friday slot in my planner I write what I will do if I nail it all. This is anything from buying my favourite bottle of rose to booking a facial.
Take outside breaks.
Running a business and balancing it with real life is exhausting. Make sure to take breaks OUTSIDE, yes even in the rain to recharge your batteries. Again this is something I had to force myself to do, now I can’t live without it.
Practice real self-care.
A shower, cleansing your face, getting a walk in and talking to a friend- these aren’t self care, these are basic needs. Taking proper care of yourself is crucial for staying positive. Make time for healthy tasty food, that new excercise class you want to try and any hobbies that bring you joy.
Don’t dwell on failures.
My clients are used to hearing me say “Is a small childs life in danger” if not, then just give it a go. If it’s great- win-win! If it’s not we tried and we move on. Failures are inevitable, Instead of dwelling on them, try to learn from them, they’re opportunities for growth.
Set goals (for you not others).
I used to think my goals had to fall in line with expectations, what others are doing etc etc. I either didn’t stretch myself or set goals I had no interest in achieving! Goals help you stay motivated if you actually want to do them!
Stay organised.
Feeling overwhelmed can quickly lead to negativity. Negativity leads to self doubt. Self doubt leads to feeling lost, stuck, frustrated.
I get organised with a Trello board that captures everything and then a good old paper planner for day to day focus. I don’t really do routine but each day I schedule based on my energy so I can get everything I need to done! It will help you stay on track.
Take time off.
You know I love to travel🌍. Taking time off is essential for avoiding burnout. Whether it’s a weekend away or a day off to relax or even 2-3 weeks off grid make sure to schedule time off for yourself, your family, friends and your dreams.
