As a woman in business, you are the heart and soul of your entrepreneurial journey. You have dreams, passions, and a vision for success. But have you ever stopped to consider that achieving your business goals is directly tied to how well you take care of yourself? I know I didn’t!
Prioritising wellness is not just a luxury; it’s a necessity for women rockin’ this self-employed life, women like you. Here I share my personal experience of focusing on wellness for a month and how it has transformed not only my productivity but also my overall sense of fulfilment.
The connection between wellness and achievement 💹
Imagine your body and mind as the engine that drives your business forward. If the engine isn’t well-maintained, it won’t perform optimally. The same applies to you! If you’re not functioning at your best, your business won’t reach its full potential. This realisation led me to make a commitment to prioritise my wellness.
A month of wellness transformation 📆
For the past month, I’ve been on a wellness journey. I didn’t set strict rules or try quick fixes; instead, I focused on creating sustainable changes that would have a lasting impact.
Here are some of the key things I did and I invite you to steal the ones you like the look of!
🥗 Meal prepping
I started meal prepping to ensure I ate properly, some wholesome, nutritious meals. Usually on a work day I’ve been known to grab a piece of bread and a cheese slice and work at my desk calling that lunch! Prepping saved me time but also because I love cooking, the prep time itself felt like some great self-care!
I made a conscious effort to take regular breaks during my workday. Stepping away from my desk and giving my mind a moment to recharge has been refreshing and rejuvenating. Even peggin’ out the washing gave me that outside time and some time to stop and think. Stepping away from the desk, the world doesn’t end! It also meant that the time at my desk was way more focussed. Win win!
⏰ Set working hours with FOCUS and INTENTION
Having set work hours allowed me to create that balance. Within these hours, I dedicated focused blocks of time to specific tasks, boosting my productivity and because I wasn’t as tired/overwhelmed I didn’t procrastinate half as much!
💻 Delegated more to my VA/Team
I gave Laura more elements of my business and handed my full Dubsado transition over to Hannah. These were things that I can definitely do myself but the energy/time mustn’t have been there as they always hung around on my Trello board, unticked and annoying me! I felt unaccomplished all the time, not very motivational!
🤝🏼 Stuck to my networking commitments
Networking events have always been where I have fun and feel connected but recently I found I’ve not had the energy or motivation to attend, I found myself saying it was down to time, too busy, too much to do! I made myself stick to them and not only did I enjoy them I’ve made some great connections too!
🧘 Embracing movement
I incorporated more movement into my daily routine – I already had the time blocked out (something I previously ignored) so I chose to stick to it! Short dog walks or doing a quick pilates – I’m yet to get back in the gym! It’s not just the physical benefits but that’s when I come up with my great ideas!
📱 IFTTT for wellness reminders
To stay on track with my wellness goals, I set up helpful reminders using IFTTT. From staying hydrated to taking vitamins, these automated prompts keep my wellness a top priority.
📈 Business goals aligned with wellness
Each daily business goal linked back to my wellness manifesto. This alignment allows me to focus on meaningful tasks that contribute to my overall wellbeing and the business benefited too!
The Impact of Putting Wellness First
By dedicating time to my wellness and implementing these practices, I’ve experienced a transformation in my life and business. I no longer feel drained or overwhelmed by the demands of entrepreneurship. Instead, I approach each day with renewed energy, clarity, and focus. My creativity has soared, allowing me to explore new ideas and innovative strategies for my business. And this is only the beginning.
